Solving a pressing challenge in Pukekohe

When the hydraulic presses at our Pukekohe site in New Zealand were coming to their end of life, Business Unit Manager Ian Richards and the rest of the team looked around the world for a press that would meet their needs.

After all, it wasn't just any old press that would do the job - it needed to have inbuilt smarts: among other things it needed to be automated, able to count, and recognise more than one type of tool. There was nothing in the world that met their brief so, in one of the best examples of creative problem solving we've seen in a while, the team decided to build their own.

Now with the fifth machine up and running, Ian Richards Business Unit Manager Pukekohe took some time out to talk to us about the project.
